1. About Photography That Gives Back

Photography That Gives Back is a voluntary, non-commercial photography initiative made possible with the help and support of my family and others who contribute their time and support.

The idea is simple: i give my time and photography, while individuals and businesses make a donation directly to a supported cause. Together, we create something positive while helping others along the way.

I don't charge a photography fee or receive or handle any of the donations myself. Photography is something i offer voluntarily and arrange around my personal health, availability and capacity.

Churches, charities and community organizations requesting photography for their own activities are never required to make a donation. Photography for these organizations is provided completely free of charge as my way of supporting the work they do.

Every project therefore either supports a cause directly or helps a cause share its story.

2. How Donations Work

For individuals, families and pet photography, instead of paying me, you make a donation directly to one of the supported causes. Once you've sent confirmation of the donation, we can arrange the photography and you'll receive your finished images as agreed.

Independent businesses can access photography through exactly the same initiative. Instead of paying me a photography fee, the business makes a donation directly to one of the supported causes and receives professionally edited images for the agreed use.

I never personally receive or handle the money and don't receive any financial benefit from the donations.

I'll provide details of the cause i'm currently supporting and how to donate when we're arranging the photography. I may ask you to send confirmation that the donation has been made before we arrange the session.

The causes i support are independent organizations. Unless i've specifically said otherwise, i don't work for or represent them, i'm simply using my photography skills to help send a little more support their way.

3. Your Photos – Permissions & Usage

To help Photography That Gives Back grow and continue supporting worthwhile causes, selected photographs from sessions may be shared on my website, portfolio and photography social media to showcase my work and the initiative.

By taking part and agreeing to this type of use, you're giving permission for selected images to be shared in these places. If you have any concerns or preferences about particular images being used, just let me know. I'm always happy to discuss individual circumstances and reasonable requests.

I retain the copyright to the photographs i create, but you're welcome to use the finished images i provide for the purposes we've agreed.

For individuals, this includes personal use and social media. Businesses and organizations may use the images supplied to them on their own websites, social media and for their own agreed promotional purposes.

I won't sell your photographs to third parties without a separate agreement, and supplied images shouldn't be sold or commercially licensed to somebody else without speaking to me first.

For planned individual photography where images may be used publicly, permission may also be confirmed separately when arranging the photography. This can simply be agreed in writing through a message or email.

4. Photography, Health & Availability

All photography offered through Photography That Gives Back is voluntary and subject to my personal health, availability and capacity at the time.

Occasionally, i may need to rearrange, postpone or decline photography because of my health, personal circumstances, weather or something else unexpected. If that happens, i'll always try to give as much notice as i reasonably can and, where possible, arrange another suitable time.

The whole idea is to keep Photography That Gives Back flexible, enjoyable and something i can continue doing while helping good causes along the way.

5. Image Delivery & Privacy

The number of finished photographs provided and how long they take to deliver will naturally vary depending on what we've photographed and the circumstances of the session.

I'll select and edit the images that i feel best represent the photography. I don't normally provide original RAW files unless we've specifically agreed otherwise.

Any personal information you provide when contacting me or arranging photography will only be used where reasonably necessary to communicate with you and arrange the photography.

I won't sell your personal information or knowingly share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

6. A Few Important Things

If photography involves anyone under 18, appropriate permission from a parent or legal guardian will be needed. Depending on the circumstances and type of photography, i may also require a parent, guardian or other responsible adult to be present.

Photography is always arranged with the understanding that everyone involved treats each other with respect. I reserve the right to decline or end photography if circumstances become unsafe, inappropriate or significantly different from what was originally agreed.

Because Photography That Gives Back is a voluntary initiative rather than a paid photography service an photography remains subject to my health, availability and capacity.

These terms may occasionally be updated as Photography That Gives Back develops. If anything particularly important changes that affects photography we've already arranged, i'll do my best to let you know.

And now the serious stuff is out of the way…

If you've somehow made it all the way to the bottom of my Terms & Conditions, congratulations you're officially more thorough than most people. 😂

Now let's get back to what this is actually about: taking great photographs, meeting good people and helping some worthwhile causes along the way.
